A plane has dramatically skidded off a runway, coming to a stop in the middle of a road in Iran.

The Caspian Airlines passenger plane carrying 135 people derailed on a busy metropolitan street after coming off the runway at Mahshahr Airport in the country’s southwest.

It reportedly overshot the runway while landing.

Videos posted on Twitter show the impressive sight as cars and buses on Abadan-Mahshahr Rd attempt to turn around from the blockage.

Other clips show passengers calmly getting off the plane as others mill around the area.

A spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation Reza Jafarzadeh said none of the passengers were injured in the incident.

“Fortunately, all passengers on Tehran-Mahshahr flight are safe,” he said.

He said the cause of the incident was under investigation.
